The Garden — Yael Moria, Studio MA

In the installation The Garden, one eighth of an acre—the gallery’s total area—has been transformed into a plot full of knolls, trees, and bushes (some gathered in nature, others made of plastic and silk). Visitors are invited to wander among the paths illuminated by nocturnal light, where the sounds of nature can be heard.

The environment looks familiar but raises doubts as to how natural it is and about the meaning of a garden. The installation was designed with environmentally conscious care in the selection of materials, method of construction and disassembly. All the elements are intended for reuse.

Yael Moria is a landscape architect and urban designer specializing in public spaces through research and design.
